Series 8 filters neededgreenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo: Creativity, Etc. : One Thread |
Hello!I need a few series 8 filters such as: yellow, amber/orange and red. Does anybody outhere has any suggestions? My lens is a Goerz-Dagor and my caliper tells me the opening is 56.5 mm. Around here in Orlando I don't know of anybody who has a series 8 to try it just to make sure. I have already tried a series 7 and is too small. No metric will fit either. If you can help me...let me know...e-mail me.
Thanks - John

Perhaps you can use the Cokin filter system if you can find a screw-on adapter ring to fit your lens. A plastic holder snaps over the ring and rectangular or circular (polarizer, star, etc.) filters are inserted. The holders come in 2 sizes - A (amateur) & P (professional). Cokin offers a huge assortment of colour and special effect filters.

B&H Photo (www.bhphotovideo.com) carries Schneider's B&W filters in Series 8 for $36.50 each. These are solid colored glass (not two clear sheets with a color laminated between), and among the best in the world.Series filters are the granddaddy of the Cokin series described above and have no threads. You either place them in a holder that screws onto the lens, or lay them over a recessed front element and hold them in place with a lens hood.
One advantage to either system is that you don't have to buy new filters when you change lens sizes--just a new holder &/or hood.
