Adoption of CLIK media by camera maufacturers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Does anyone have any information about manufacturer's plans to incorporate the Iomega CLIK technology into new camera designs or to retrofit these storage devices to current cameras?

This is a 40 megabyte removable media device designed for use with handheld components like PCS devices and digital cameras. If the technology is close at hand I'd put off my purchase of a camera.

Any info?

Iomega has touted several relationships with digital camera mfrs. I can't recall the list I saw in a press release, but (think I) remember noting that Kodak was among them. That said, I have heard nothing official or unofficial from any manufacturer indicating near-term (eg, 6 month) plans to include CLIK.

Keep in mind that it typically takes mfrs (at least) 18 months to bring a product from concept to production. My guess is you won't see CLIK in a camera until next spring. (But I've been wrong before! :-)
