35 mm mount for digital cameragreenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread |
Let me start by making it clear that I know nothing about digital camera features. I've been ask to find a digital camera for our small science department. We have general applications, but have an interest in connecting a digital camera to our telescopes to obtain images. 1. Does anyone make a high-quality camera that has an accessory mount to attachment to 35 mm or other optical units? 2. Is the integration time on the CDD of the camera programmable on any (or all) cameras or automatic only? We have a budget around $1200-1500 and are looking for the most bang-for-the-buck. Any suggestions???????

Unfortuantely no. Noone as yet has taken advantage of the consumer machines to make one that will work. Alterntives (overpriced IMO) inlcude the Pixera and Sound vision cameras but these things , beside high prices ALSO have th dumb feature of needing PC's to take pictures! Sound vision actually requires Photoshop. You best bet is to wait or buy a digicam and hack the lens of to build your own.
