There is a new movie coming out in a couple weeks called Baseketball. It is a comedy and I have seen in the previews someone yelling "I'm the king of the world." Also, during an advertisement for Arrmagedon, they say something along the lines of "Nothing on earth could seperate them", which seems a lot like the Titanic promotion "Nothing on earth could come between them" Has anyone else noticed other movies or media "borrowing" lines from the classic movie we all love so much??

Hi Misty! Nice to see you back here.
Have you noticed in "As Good as it Gets" when Jack Nickolson tries to write one of his books and he repeats the line "Love was when..." and he can't get the words out because he's never loved anybody or anything. It reminded me of the song MHGO, "Love was when I loved you..." And in the same movie, "Simon the fa_" draws "Carole the waitress" while she is nude in the bathroom. Maybe just coincidences, but I could not let them pass... :-)

Well, although not related to movies, we always have the old,and usually related to corperate financial matters, cliche " this is just the "tip of the iceberg"! My daughter went to see "Lethal Weapon #122000" or whatever tonight so I will have to ask her if there were any "Titanic" like lines in that one. Seems the hot one of the summer is "Armagedon" which should be good for at least a few "Titanic" lines; such as "Asteroid, right ahead!" :>

I was doing my daily dash through the cable channels when I noticed something that looked like it was from "Titanic", so I stopped. Turned out, it was MTV playing a video by some group called Hanson. At the begining and end of the video, for reasons that escape me, Gloria Stuart reenacts scenes from "Titanic" (slightly modified), with Weird Al(!) filling in for Bill Paxton as Brock Lovitt. Ms. Stuart appears to be listening to the Hanson group on a little headphones CD player in her cabin on the Keldyesh; when Weird Al asks her if she has the "jewel", Stuart says something like, "no, I don't have any Jewel...I like Hanson." At the end of the video, Stuart tosses a CD off the back of the research ship, just as she did with the heart of the ocean. Pretty cute, but I can't figure out for the life of me what it has to do with the rest of the song. Perhaps I am terminally un-hip, and completely missed something.

Hi Dan! Hi everyone. I just think it is great that Titanic is so well known that it CAN be used that way. It has become a part of our culture like Forest Gump, and it did it so quickly. Some people may say that they didn't like the movie, they don't know what the hype is all about, but they all know about the movie. You probably couldn't find a person on the street that doesn't know anything about the movie. In ten, twenty, fifty, a hundred years, people will still be watching this movie absolutely fascinated with it, and we will be able to say we were there when it was a movie going into production with two strikes against it. When everyone was telling those involved to get out while they can, and when it was expected to be the biggest cocktail party joke in history, James Cameron worked endlessly to make sure it was a movie that would tear at your heart, make you think and make you want to see it over and over and, for some, over again. But most importantly he made a movie that is significant in telling the true life and death story shared by so many people and he was careful not to make a mockery of these people's lives. This will live on forever, especially now, because in the other movies we see with Titanic tidbits, people will always remember that line came from Titanic.

I know I have rambled on and on, so please forgive. I am happy finally realizing that Titanic will never founder because of all the wonderful people who will keep it alive with them forever.
