Just saw a brand new movie tonight at the theater: "Friends and Neighbors". I knew nothing about it beforehand, and was pleasantly surprised. Anyone else see it? Opinions? Unfortunately, it would definitely be improper, if not downright antidramaturgical, for those under 18 to view this. I rate it higher than "Truman Show", lower than "Private Ryan". I have some specific observations, but will wait till I hear from some of you. None of the stars are big, except Natasia Kinsky (sp?). I found it to be a major contrast with "Armageddon".

It's really time for me to get a life. I'm the only one replying to my question. Just want to add that I saw another movie tonight, "Smoke Signals" to which Siskel & Ebert had given thumbs-up-way-up and Janet Maslin of NY Times liked also. I have to give it a thumbs down. A little dull. It holds the interest enough to sit through it, though. I saw this only because "Zorro" was sold out. Last night I saw "Your Friends & Neighbors" only because the Zorro film was "broken".

It's great chatting with Me, Myself and I! BobG, you have violated the first commandment of propriety (thou shalt not be immodest). I forgot to say that right before "Smoke Signals" came on, they showed the preview of "The Chambermaid on the Titanic," which Guilded and some of you mentioned elsewhere. The preview was intriguing because of the subtle references to Titanic. When they announced the title at the end, the audience laughed. It was classic. I'm certain the producers did not intend for that reaction! It was the closest thing I've heard to the "sssssss" (short for "sucks") I heard last year in San Francisco theaters.

Hey, BobG, if you haven't already gone to see Zorro, don't. My little brother made me take him, and it was really bad. In my humble opinion anyway.

Oh, my gosh, Guilded (cyberwife) is going to kill me for not liking "Smoke Signals", which happens to be about Native Americans. But, hon, (short for "honeybunch") I loved "Dances with Wolves"! You'll be interested to see my question & George's reply regarding Native Americans.

I haven't seen "Smoke Signals" yet (waiting for video), but...(yikes)...I didn't like "Dances With Wolves". Another bad theatre experience. I have had every intention for years to try it again, though. But just because you didn't love "Smoke Signals" doesn't mean I think you don't still love me! *wink* :)
