Hi! I am from Sweden and I want to by a Maine Coon aboard perhabs from Canada or US. How do I do and how much will it cost me?

Hi! Our Canadian and American friends will be able to answer your questions as to procedures and price. I'm from Denmark and I just write to say that Sweden has some rather strict quarantine requirements that you should be aware of when making your decision: it's an extra cost and some breeders won't sell a cat that is to go into quarantine. Price will depend on whether the cat is sold as a pet or a breeder. I cannot presume to speak for other breeders' prices, but I would assume between $400 - $600 for a pet, and $1000 - $3000 for a breeder/show animal.

Please also understand that Sweden has quarantine rules which will add additional costs to the price. I would suggest contacting other breeders in Sweden if you're looking for a pet. If you're looking for a breeder, you'll have a hard time buying from people who don't know you! They'll want to know a whole lot about your cattery, your knowledge of the breed, and your willingness to learn and be mentored by an experienced breeder before they'll consider allowing one of their babies to go to a new home :-)
