What on Earth is a restatement, anyway? What weight does it carry, and what purposes does it serve? Thanks, Paul

From what I understand, a restatement is essentially a treatise seeks to provide a definitive catalogue, explaination, and analysis of the various theories and doctrines that make up a general area of legal study (like "Property," or "Torts") I don't know if they are still produced, but many of the older restatements are cited frequently in court decisions, granting them(the restatements) a quasi-legal status.cheers, andy
