I have a Canon Elan IIe with a good complement of lenses and a 380EX flash. I also have a Canon AE-1 for which I need a new flash. A local salesman suggested that I simply use the 380EX with the AE-1. I shot a test roll of film with variable results. Has anyone used this combination? How do I find an appropriate set of guide numbers for various apertures, including automatic? Any potential damage problems, to lens or flash, with this combination? Thanks for your help.
