What are the warranty options for the Nikon CoolPix 900 Digital Cameras?

My Nikon Coolpix900 warranty cards reads as follows:

"This Nikon Electronic Imaging Product is warranted by Nikon Inc to be free from defects in Material and workmanship for one (1) year from the date of purchase".

It continues to discuss misuse and neglect, and that the warranty is not transferable. there is also an interesting note at the end, which says, "This warranty does not apply to the Software Driver that accompanies this product."

It doesn't reflect any options for repair. It says that you (the original consumer) must ship it (with the Bill of Sale) to their service department (or show up in person) with prepaid postage and insurance in it's original carton in order for them to honor this warranty.
