My MC has occasional soft stool, which is very unpleasent, since it sticks to his hair. I have taken him to he vet and had some stool testing and he was deemed in perfect health. I have gradually introduced him to high quality foods but the more he eats the more frequent the soft stool becomes. He is currently eating Purina Kitten Chow mixed with Eukanuba. He can't seem to digest anything but store bought food. Should he stay with Purina (I am not comfortable with the content quality) and Friskies or will he gradually adapt to the better quality. My vet said to continue the same mixture and see how it goes for the next 2 weeks. Wondering if anybody has had this problem with their MCs.

You don't say how old your cat is, but two of our eight have tended to have soft stools when they are teething (just like babies). As soon as the tooth breaks through the gum, the soft stools go away. We have tried a dose of 1/2 teaspoon of children's Kaopectate and it helps for a day or two, but nothing really works until the tooth in question is in. For what it's worth.....our ten month old neutered male is still getting his adult teeth (they do mature slowly!!!).

One of our MC's had TERRIBLE diarrhea for several days, but no other symptoms of illness- coat and eyes were good, playful disposition, appetite good. However, when I took him in for a stool check, he had a raging Clostridium bacterial infection. ONE day of antibiotic checked the symptoms- I was astounded- I've NEVER seen a medication work so fast (thank goodness !!)
