does anybody know of any good online classes on directing ?

is there a place for an independent filmmaker to rent film clips, i.e., car chase, plane crash, etc. to dub into a current film ?

Grad an issue of Post Magazine. It's usually got gobs of stock footage sources. They've also got a CD full of stock footage references that you can get for under $10. You might want to check out www.cdlog.com.

Ask an independent filmmaker. If they're not paranoid, they'll give you footage to use in practice.
