I have had my MC cat for 2 yrs. For the first 6 mths he was loving and wouldn't leave my lap or site. Now he doesn't want to be cuddled with or say on the same chair as I am. I am so stressed. Don't get me wrong is is loving and seems happy but only when your in the kitchen cooking!!! He is a male and I'm sorry but I did declaw him!

Please let me know about his behavior

I have 5 pet maines,one is a lap cat, one is a sometimer,mostly when it's cold.I think my cats like being my buddies and helpers.they always follow me. My big boy was like your cat,I felt terrible,but I got to known him better.I couldn't pet him.If he wants to be petted ,he'll lie down, and if he;s lying down I can pet him or brush all I want.My cats never pester me,they just want to be my buddy ,like my dog....but not my babies !

I have or had three MCs. One is a lap cat but only in the winter. In the summer she prefers to stay out. She goess googoo when i pick her up or hold her but its nice and she wants to be outside.

The other two, while very affectionate, can't deal with a lap for more than a few minutes. So there is nothing wrong with a cat like this; its like people, some are cuddlers, some are not.

And we've had other cats that are lap cats as little kitties and become non-lappers after.
