This really sucks...greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread |
I don't know why, but for some apparent reason, Puzzle Bobble is locked on the difficutly setting of "6"?!?!? The TG setting (also factory) is "4" I tried everything and cannot change or alter the setting. This sucks, because I want to play it and go for 10 pts but I will not play it on this level. It's much more harder and throws the game off when I'm use to playing it on the default setting of "4" It sucks because I won't play it untill this is fixed. I'll have to ask Donut what he played it on. If he preferred the much harder setting and got that 16M score, well then hats off to him by far. I can get 25M in the arcade on default/TG, never had any reason to play it on a harder setting...Steve Krogman

Um, why not play it on the harder setting? Does it make *that* much of a difference? If you can get 25M on default, dontcha think you could still beat 16M on the more difficult setting?
...just curious...

The difference between level 6 and 4 is that you have less colored balls to place on the board before the computer drops the screen one line. You have less shots to prepare a large drop of colored balls to award you the 1.3m bonus. I can play on 8 no problem, but the way I set up some of the boards for big points just won't happen. It's much faster so your stuck having to finish the board and take crappy points not having enough time to build for the 1.3m drop. Just finishing boards will give you a really crappy score by the end of the game. The whole thing is that when I played it a few months ago, it was fine. Now for some reason it's stuck on "6" and can't be changed?! TG doesn't require you to play a game any harder then the settings allowed unless you want the challenge. 4 was the setting so I shouldn't have to play it on 6.Steve Krogman

Hmmm, I just checked Puzzle Bobble on the following versions of Mame (Dos34, Dos35b2, and Win34), and in all 3 versions, the game was set to the default setting of "4".Which version of Mame are you using? Have you tried deleting the .hi & .cfg files?

Man I feal like a poop head... 8( I just tried it in dos (mame34) mode and it was defaulted at level 4. Thanks Angry for reminding me there is another way to play mame other then through windows... :p That's really weird how many strange things happen when you run mame through windows. Sometimes my computer runs extremely slow and messed up my comuter to where I have to either close down mame32 and restart it, or restart my computer. Alot of games have settings different from dos and you can't change them for some reason?! Also, that really weird controls problem with running a joysick/gamepad. The controls will move on their own if you don't touch them for a few seconds! Pisses me off on games like Track n Field where it keeps faulting me on the 100m.Regards, Steve Krogman
