I haven't used photodeluxe but i found this on olympus faq site

In the camera package there are two cables. The longer of the two is used for IBM and IBM Clone computers and is attached to a free com. port. For use on a Macintosh or Power Macintosh the second smaller cable is attached to the longer cable creating a Mac cable for connecting to the computer. This cable is then plugged into the modem or printer ports. When used on the printer port turn off AppleTalk. When the cable is connected to the computer, open the rubber cover on the side of the D-200L or D-300L and connect the cable to the camera (arrow to the front). Make sure that you turn the camera on by opening the lens cover. The computer cannot find the camera if the door is shut and the camera is turned off. When the D-200L or D-300L are connected to the computer the camera controls and LCD do not operate. With the camera now connected you can start up PhotoDeluxe and acquire the images through the software. Acquiring the image is done with the guided activities, get digital photo, or acquire menu files.

(failing to aquire images)

There are several causes of this problem. The first is the lens barrier is closed. With the lens barrier closed the camera is turned off and the computer cannot find the camera. The solution is simple, open the lens barrier and try again. The provided cords may also have not been plugged in securely, and again the camera connection fails. Check to make sure the cords are completely inserted into their appropriate jacks. (A com. port on the IBM or clone, or the modem or printer port on the Macintosh). With the Macintosh if the camera is used on a Powerbook or printer port, make sure to turn off AppleTalk. After checking these items try again, the camera and software should work to acquire the image(s).

VCR GUNK Utilizing the provided video cable, insert the stereo type jack into the camera, and the yellow RCA jack into the video input jack on your television. Set your television to the video mode (either by the television's remote control or a button on the television). Press the green button to the left of the LCD. The image will appear on the television monitor and not on the camera's LCD.

Jim-

Serial-port problems are often caused by other devices in the PC hogging the serial port. There'll be settings in the software somewhere to select which serial port to use: You should try all 4, and also try it with the serial port speed initially set down to some lower value, like 38,400 rather than 115,200. Also, strangely, the PC's 4 serial ports actually boil down to different settings for two physical ports, so it's possible you have two devices (a modem and something else) connected, but actually are out of serial ("COM") ports.

As to trying to get from VCR *into* the camera, no way to do it. To get VCR to your PC, the best bet is something like a Zipshot (from ArcSoft) or a Snappy (forget mfr's name). These plug into your parallel ("Printer") port, and take the video signal from the VCR directly.

Hope this helps, good luck!
