Hello Everyone, I was intrested in getting the A5 Adventures portaledge (double) also the A5 Grade VII Haul Bag. I was wondering if anyone could tell me something about these two items and if they are really worth the money. Thanks for your time. Robert

Hi Robert,

This may not be for you but you can save money by not even buying a portaledge. If you choose your routes carefully you can stay on natural ledges, I've done 8 Yosemite Walls and never taken a portaledge. IMHO, it isn't worth buying one unless you are sure you want to get into routes that require them.

Well I'm not the best person to give advice about big walls, but here goes. George is right you dont *have* to get a portaledge. But who doesnt want one? Whith one you can do any route with out natural ledges and if youre a crowded wall with natural ledges you can stay anywhere you want! About the A5 double...I've only heard good things about it! Same goes for the A5 Grade VII. You might want to consider the Cliff Cabana (also made by A5) its way big and would be much more comfortable although more expensive and heavier.
