Hi. My mother is interested in getting a maine coon cat. Our cameo cat just died recently and unexpectedly. She is not interested in catshows, she just wants a companion.

She lives in Virginia. Are there maine coons available in the MD, PA, WV, VA area? What about cost?

You can pickup a copy of Cat Fancy at pet stores. In the back they have breeders (that advertise with them) listed by state.

My husband & I are also searching the area (we live in MD, near VA). We have found several good websites & are currently tracking down kittens. Try the following sites: www.cat-breeders.com www.mcbfa.org/members www.fanciers.com Also, in VA, Yankee Cats in Falls Church (mccats@juno.com 202-973- 6306) came highly recommended to me by another impressive cattery called Sarajen, in Arlington (703-243-5787). Sarajen just had kittens a couple of weeks ago; I don't know if any are sold yet. Good luck! : )
