A Burning Man enclave in the UK?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Cacophony : One Thread |
I've just spent 8 months touring the States, went to Burning Man for the first time, can't believe how much beautiful insanity exists out here, ready to go back home and NOT return to my previous existence. Is anyone in the UK understanding this vibe at all? Where's all the Brits I met on the playa last year?I'm trying to set up a Burning Man enclave in the UK, a group that will have pre and post Burn events, Beach Burns, disseminate info and build the enthusiasm that is engendered amongst West coast Burners by the Beach Burns and Flambe Lounges in San Francisco. We're a long way from the desert but we can still party, mingle, share ideas, build art together, plan travel and celebrate the impending conflagration on the Playa.
UK Burners, I KNOW you're out there. I'm based in Brighton and I want to begin in April or May with a Beach Burn and a party on the roof of my block of flats. Yeah!! Celebrate the anti-glamour of British life 'til the desert toasts our toes again. Join me and...

Count me in!! Been to Burning Man the last two years, but won't be able to make it this year, and am very keen to keep the vibe alive in the UK. Anything I can do to help, just let me know. I've already convinced several people that they MUST go this year, so it would be great to give them a taster before they fly. Anything I can do, just let me know.with love, Helen xxx.

Hi AlisonJust found you on the web and am interested in what you're looking to create. I went to BMan for the first time this year, and loved every minute of it. I'd be intested to know what I can do to help spread some of the magic in dull, grey Britain.
Did you find your enclave and how are things going?
Regards
Andy

Hello Alison,It has been awhile since the last response but I figure this is worth the effort. I went to my first Burn just before coming here from the states to get a Masters at Sussex. I would love nothing more than to meet some fellow burners and do whatever I could to bring that vibe here. Otherwise, maybe we'll cross paths next year in BRC.
All the Best,
Nathan

From Black Rock Brighton to black Rock Nevada - we were there this year (2004)and the magic lives on. Count us in on any UK contingent or projects and would love to hear of others who travelled and shook the dust from hair half way round the globe.Chrisette (we live in Brighton)

Dear all...I knew you'd have to be out there somewhere... Not since last November, finding myself in a shop window with some bare-naked lady in Camberwell, have I found anyone in England who's been.
Anyone in London want to meet? Or going next year?
Alex
