Our local nikon microsuppliers (Dublin)can supply appropriate microscope attachments for the coolpix 900 camera. I have been unable to get an assurance that the coolpix 950 can also take such attachments, although I would be very surprised if it couldn't.

Was that a question? The 950 does have the same lens threads as the 900, and should be able to focus on anything the 900 could (and more). The form factor of the whole camera appears to be different, so there's an off chance that it would interfere with some other part of the microscope which the 900 didn't.
