Does anyone know if you can set the color display to not turn on when the camera is in auto record mode. I've seen it mentioned in some reviews that this feature is not available (see below). I'm hoping that I don't have to turn it off every time I use the camera in auto mode to save battery life (I prefer to use the optical viewfinder).

I guess it is hard for me to believe that the screen would always come on when in auto capture mode...I would evision most people wanting so use the optical viewfinder.

Here are a couple instances where this is mentioned.

Digital Eyes 950 Review: "The Monitor button turns the LCD viewfinder on and off, overriding the options set in the menus. (It appears that the LCD viewfinder can be shut off in Manual mode, but not in Automatic.)"

The Imaging Resource suggests the same thing in their discussion about the Auto and Manual Record Mode Menus.
