THE FORUM IS BACK

greenspun.com : LUSENET : 1998 Guam Elections : One Thread

Hello all!

The runoff election might be back and as a result, I'm offering up this forum again to get the discussion going. I hope it will be useful to you all.

Major change: I will no longer moderate this forum. I am handing over moderation duties to a more neutral observer -- he calls himself Jim Bouton, although that's not his real name. I was accused of being a biased moderator last year, so I'm stepping down, although I plan to post occasionally. Jim is here with me now and will post his guidelines for this forum.

Finally, please pass the word on about this forum. The more people who participate, the better.

Carl is gonna lose because he pissed off too many people...like the Munas from Mangilao. Talk about retracting your vote..hehe 98 is gone and over..it's time to get your 99 stickers, get two of them, cut out of the nines, put it upside down on your vehicle and you got 666.

-- aww yeah (carl@gonna.lose.com), April 23, 1999.

so you think carl is going to lose. well think again because ada has no chance. (name calling deleted by moderator)

Great hope for Ada Camacho in 1999. In 1998 Carl won because Ada was not ready for the election. Joe is working real hard for the people and will keep the fun clean. Lucky for Joe, that those federal judges loves him and gave a re-run election, despite losing by 3,000 or more votes. I tell you that for sure with all the hard work Joe may beat Carl because the people want a good clean smart governor and not a (name calling deleted by moderator -- please back up insults with evidence). Even losing by 3,000 votes don't mean anything cause the people loves Joe Ada as Governor.

-- Joe Zapanta (clean@kuentos.com), April 24, 1999.

(moderator changed name calling references). 98'ers complained when the federal district court ruled that there should be a run-off election. 98'ers complained when the 9th circuit court also ruled that there should be a run-off election. Are they going to complain when the Supreme Court decides not to hear their case? Who are they going to blame?

Remind me not to hire Phil as my attorney.

-- frozen h2o (insulting address), April 24, 1999.

How can Joe Ada stand for "honesty and integrity" and ask for a rerun after losing? Vote no for Joe, because he wants a rerun despite losing by 3,000 votes. Seems he insults and does not care about protecting the voting public from injustice and interested on the convenience of becoming a Governor. Is there anything different that Joe offers that the voting majoriety will see and elect him as governor? Joe has been governor for two terms, the people really know him and likely will not turn back the clock for Joe.

-- Carlos Cruz (voter@ite.net), April 25, 1999.

Dearest People

On our beautiful island of Guam the personal family and emotional healing is essential for healing the community from the hard fought political battle between Carl and Joe in 1998. The news of of a rerun election makes the community fear and refrain from discussions of another election in 1999. The people's mandate in 1998 was '98' and ordinary people do not willingly discuss and will not dwell on the prospects or possibility of a rerun. They are not ready emotionally to handle another fierce battle. As a humble servant of God I ask that we work for peace, love and understanding in our community.

-- Jake Blas (Tired@ite.net), April 26, 1999.

Hafa Adai forum participants,

I've been handed the moderator torch from Lighthouse Keeper. I don't plan to participate in the discussion, in order to keep neutral. Here are my policies, and I ask that you respect them:

1. No name calling or profanity -- only ideas and arguments will be accepted.

2. Be civil to one another.

3. Nothing potentially libelous will be accepted without proof.

4. Other policies will be announced when necessary.

Thank you for participating. Please pass the address of this web page to others, in order to get the discussion going. Si Yu'us Maase.

well to tell you the truth i think we need to look at the ways around a runoff because we are pretty close to the middle part of the year. if we were going tohave a runoff it should have been in the begining or the judges should have acted on the case earlier. other than that carl is doing a preety good job as are governor. he has cut down the deficit. while joe ada created the deficit for us. i think honesty and integrety is a bunch of bull shit from the ada camp. i heard that if there is a runoff and joe wins he already has promised 25 or so people that he will get them in to gov guam. how can a man do this when the governor now can not even get jobs filled. it is the legislature that does the hiring now. so tell me joe that your working for honestey and integrety.

-- (insulting name) ((insulting fake address)), April 26, 1999.

Yes, Carl is doing such a great job. The SPG is going to be a success, the unemployment rate is low, and everyone is happy. I don't think so! Open your eyes and look around you. SPG is going to flop, and you can't blame that on Gov. Ada because Carl has had 5 years to prepare for them. Have you been by the construction in Dededo? The games are about 1 month away and the facilities aren't even finished. We went from having 5,000 participants and down to 3,500. Poor planning, that's what it comes down to. And when the games flop, poor Cliff is going to get all the blame.

What is the unemployment rate now? No one seems to know, especially Jim Underwear, the so-called acting director of the Dept. of Labor. His department doesn't even have stats from a year ago..and I'm paying these jerks obscene wages to do their damn job. I'm glad Sen. Salas stopped the confirmation hearing. Get your fat dagans up and do some work, Dept. of Labor!

Education on Guam has become a joke. I'm sure glad that I got out before the you-know-what hit the fan.

Steal da funds

-- (fake insulting name that personifies Carl) (insult@this.com), April 27, 1999.

Thank You Guam We are happy for the second chance to beat Carl. I predict Joe Ada will win based on the power of the alliance of Angel L.G. Santos, Tom Ada, Lou Leon Guerrero and Felix Camacho and their supporters. Carl is going down in 1999 and Joe Ada will be the power and the 98 supporters will lose the jobs, contracts and connections. It's hita, mauleg time.......biba biba biba. Hurry up 98 and pack up your bags and leave the island cause you will not have any more fun in 1999. The best governor is Joe Ada; he can balance the budget, bring back the tourist and make us all shine for the South Pacfic Games. Guam needs Joe Ada to get a better life for all the people in 1999.

-- Djana Aljakielosevic (voter@kuentos.com), April 27, 1999.

Joe Ada will become Governor in 1999, the people knows with Angel Santos the federal and local govermnent will return the land back to the original land owners in Harmon, Tiyan, Dededo and other locations. Governor Carl Guiteriez can't move just talks but he can't deliver the land back and no improvement. If you want progress vote for Joe Ada he will get your lands back.

-- Henry Landless (land@kuentos.com), April 29, 1999.

Dear Henry Landless:

Two words (Three if you count "and")

SPELLING and GRAMMER... Try it, it will improve your vocabulary and written skills..

And whatever the outcome of this so called election-fiasco is, I think the people of guam have had enough of the outrageous shit that has been going around. May the best asshole win.....

-- Glenn (g_machie@hotmail.com), April 30, 1999.

Those senators are narcissists so wrapped up in themselves they lose touch as to who is responsible for the budget problems. They are responsible as well as the Governor. A fatal weakness a disconnection from reality now it seems I will lose my job.

-- Job hunter (blame@ite.net), April 30, 1999.

Maybe if you weren't the typical lazy LTA you'd still have a job, and even if you did get fired you might have a good chance of landing a private sector job. Once private sector employers see gov guam on a resume they throw it in the trash, and I would too.

-- (realworker@iftech.net), April 30, 1999.

After watching the 25th Guam Legislature session last night headed by Sen John Salas and the heartless Simon Sanchez, Eddie Calvo and other republicans; thou shall remember how much compassion and respect they demonstrated for the LTA(s) and their families on the next election. The arrogance may lead to their defeat on the next election because the people you step on will never forget and get even on the next election.

-- Hurting the people (voter@ite.net), April 30, 1999.

Did anyone see the Pacific Daily Snooze today? According to the PDN, Guiterrez has hired the most LTA's as a governor. Karl had to "repay" the people who voted for him by giving them a job. Most LTAs aren't even qualified to do the work they're doing, and there are a lot of people on island who are willing and qualified to do these jobs. I am one of these people who are willing to bust my ass, but because I don't have a 98 sticker on my car I won't get hired.

A majority of LTAs are fat, lazy people who expect hand outs because they cooked corn soup at a 98 rally. I don't feel sorry for them. They should go out and get skills so they can get legit jobs.

To all the LTAs: Why don't you prove to the legislature that you're a vital part of this government instead of whining. Most of us in the private sector know you're useless.

-- Do the right thing (nomore@lta.net), May 01, 1999.

The real power behind the Limited Term Appintments(LTA) is that they are very active in political organizations. Collectively they have the power to determine which senator will make it back to the 26th Guam Legislature. Carl does not need them as much as the 15 fat cats do.

-- ha (LTA@voter.com), May 02, 1999.

Well ... Sen. Leon Guerrero continues to travel, dine and wine, she did not help provide food on the table for those in need of a job. Can't wait for the next election to change the leadership in the legislature to Democrats; the party that cares for the common and poor people. We will change the leadership in 2000 and remove the fats out of the legislature especially that Sen. Salas. Sure not all of the 11 will fall, but those on the edge will be without those fat budgets as Senators in 2000.

-- Eat the fats (dinner@kuentos.com), May 03, 1999.

Special thanks to the Republican Senators' political fiscal policy, now Carl can't protect the employment of the sacrifical lambs (LTAs) employees. This is all part of the political plan to help Joe F. Ada win the re-run election and the lamb's blood must be sacrficied to weaken Carl. Perhaps we can expect all of the GovGuam employees to flock into a single line to avoid similar fate as the sacrifical lambs (LTAs). Gosh, GovGuam employees may have to rally to defeat the forces of Ada or be crucified due fiscal hardships and cold hearts of the Republicans.

The re-run election that Joe Ada is begging for is causing lots of fiscal hardships to the lambs and their families as they continue their plight out of Kosovo. Who will end the agony and the redemption of the sufferings of the the innocent lambs? Mr. Joe Ada Milosevic where is your compassion and heart?

-- Joe Ada Milosevic (ADA@will.win), May 03, 1999.

Let's look at the term "LTA" shall we? What does that stand for? LIMITED TERM EMPLOYEES! I'm sorry, but their term is up and the island cannot afford to pay lazy people to do nothing. I'm glad someone is finally doing something about fiscal responsibility.

-- Karl "Socialist" G. (karl@marx.com), May 04, 1999.

Let us take a closer look at what happened these past few days. The Governor along with his puppets tried to take money away from the courts. The courts provided proof to the legislature that the monies that are in the bank are allocated and may not be touched due to agreements and laws that placed them their. The same laws that some of the sitting senators and governor wrote and passed into law. I am now unemployed as a result of this fiasco. But I do not blame the senators nor do I blame the courts. It is the Directors of every agency that I blame. Yes, I opened my eyes and realized that I was not supposed to retire a LTA. If my director really felt that I worked hard and deserved to contue my employment he would have taken the neccesary measures to ensure my continued employment with his agency. Yes I was a political hire. I feel I did work hard. BUT, it is the Directors that are not working hard enough for their LTA's. Instead of driving all these plush government vehicles, they should be riding the transit to save the government money. And get rid of the cell phones already. My director uses his cell phone even when he is in his office. There are a lot of ways that the current administration could have saved our jobs. But did they try hard enough? As hard as we did when it came time for election? I think not! And I wish you all the best. As for myself, I have made my choice on who to vote for. I will not make any more mistakes.

-- LTA=Limited Term (unemployed@ite.net), May 04, 1999.

The truth is the LTAs knows who cares for them and they include Gov. Carl T.C. Gutierrez, Sen. Tony Blaz, Sen. Frank Aguon, Sen Eloy Burmudes and Sen. Ben Pangelinan. As for the rest of the Senators we know how rich and fat they are dinning on tax payers money and among them are Sen. John Salas, Sen. C. Leon Guerrero and Sen. Tony Lamorena, while they ignore the poor LTAs who now can't buy food for their families.

-- No More Fat LTAs in the Legislature (LTA@helpers.sin), May 04, 1999.

The true description of a Limited Term Appointment = POLITICAL HIRE NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

OR

BYPASS MERIT SYSTEM

While most LTA's are paid "wage negotiated" doing the SAME job specs as classified employees under the same "Title", they are still LIMITED TERM. When the term expires you are shit out of luck. WHY? Because you were hired with "I know the governor" merit system.. Which is a bunch of bull shit. I am a classified employee of this government, I submitted my application when there was an opening, I went through the selection process, I went through the interviews. and because I was capable of doing this job that I now hold, I WAS HIRED....And mind you I am a Democrat placed in public service during a REPUBLICAN administration.

So stop your crying about "How am I going to feed my children" "How am I going to pay my bills" and wipe your damn tears do what I and all the other "merit" employees did and go out and find a REAL JOB to feed your children and pay you damn debts.

See you at the POLLS..

ABC

-- just a classified employee (ABC@meritsystem.itworks.com), May 05, 1999.

Most GovGuam classified employees do only one thing they steal the tax payers money. They are lazy, fat, spoiled, stupid and can't be depended on to do the job. Nobody will hire them because they are worthless to the private sector.

-- Juan Fixed Cruz (steal@kuentos.lie), May 06, 1999.

Mr. Joe Ada Milosevic ordered the Republican senators not to fund the LTAs, so he can win the re-run election. Who will end the agony and the redemption of the sufferings of the LTAs. Mr. Joe Ada Milosevic where is your compassion and heart?

-- (ADA@will.win), May 07, 1999.

Why don't you just get a REAL job instead of expecting the government to pamper you all the time!

-- Get a REAL Job (get@a.life.com), May 07, 1999.

Real Job?? These people have almost no marketable skills to begin with. The government spoils them and they expect the government to keep them on the payroll(?). Why improve what basic skills they do have or obtain new skills to "get a real job" when the Government wants to keep them stupid so that they will "vote for 98"?

-- gov guam reeks (lame@LTA.loser), May 08, 1999.

The real reason Joe Flores Ada wants a re-run election, he can't get a really good job in the private sector in the past 4 years. So he asked Carl for help, but Joe did not qualify for any of the LTA positions. Good hearted Joe really tried for any job but nobody would hire him and that is why Joe Ada asked the Rep. Senators not to fund the LTAs, now Joe wants to get even with Carl.

-- (Real@okay.no), May 10, 1999.

Go blow yourself!

-- (carl@yousuck.com), May 10, 1999.

We lost our jobs as LTAs and in need of welfare aid and food stamps. Sen. Leon Guerrero, Sen. Moylan, Sen. Salas, Sen. Calvo, Sen. Brown and the other Rep. sinners forgot about us. In the year 2000 the anti-virus program will flush the the Y-K-Anti-LTA bugs from the Guam Legislature. Biba 15 democrats in 2000, the party that cares for the poor people.

-- (food@stamp.haa), May 10, 1999.

Is this discussion going around in circles? Anyone wanna talk about something different?

-- L. Anya Diablo (new@topic.com), May 10, 1999.

You bet, the circle will come back on the next senatorial elections.

-- (lta@voter.2000), May 11, 1999.

Mr. Joe Flores Ada, so what other outstanding law bills do you owe aside from the $85,000+ to Carl? You think the legal right to sue is the way to get a reelection but you are always short of money to back your legal battles. Get a job and pay up your legal bills and stop using those fund raisers from poor people to pay your bills. Pay your bills Joe and get out of the progess of Guam....we now have a better govt. despite with less money.

-- (PAY@cheap.law), May 25, 1999.

Hey you asshole, how can you say that we have a better government when Satan Sablan is letting MURDERERS go out in public during the weekends to get married or visit their sick mothers. The saddest thing about all of this is that after a week, no one will seem to care. This government is so fucked up I'm considering leaving island, like the many thousands of other people who have already. 98 sucks, and so do all the blinded, self-interested 98 supporters.

-- Satan Sablan (free@prisoners.com), May 25, 1999.

The only people interested in a runoff election is Joe Ada, Felix Camacho, Fred Castro and puppets, Judge Unpiingco and the editors of Pacfic Daily News. The balance of the community don't care but will support the current administration. Guam we did it in 1998 so lets do it in 1999.

I agree wit Joe Asshole. I like it when he wastes my money from the fundraisers to pay his debts. I am smart like him...losing and not being qualified to work as a LTA when he is also living in LTH. I admired the way he kept freezing in the debates. He reminds of my grandmother who can't find her hemorodical cream for her asshole.

-- dumbass (joeisdumb@retard.com), May 26, 1999.

Joe's wife has a huge gap in her teeth!!! What's wrong Joe Ada, too poor to take her ass to a dentist!!! Oh Yeah!!! I fogot!!! He has to pay Carl $85,000...Why???...Because Joe didn't have any evidence to prove election fraud. LOL@GAP

-- Lighthouse Keeper (lighthousekeeper@dejanews.com), May 26, 1999.

Person who wrote about that gap in her teeth is a huge asshole. Stop sladering Joe's wife has a gap in her teeth. I may be a 98 supporter but Ada still deserves respect.

I guess you're the type of guy that turns his head away and puts out his hand for a little "gift" right? Maybe you were one of the LTA's begging for a job? It's people like you that make our beautiful island "malafunkshun." Why don't YOU do us a favor and open your eyes to what's really going on around here...dick head.

-- (phukkarl@98.sux.com), May 27, 1999.

Does anybody know what "malafunkshun" is??! Wasn't that the name of a really bad talkshow in Guam that was yanked off the air? Somebody?

-- (19forgotten@pathetic.com), May 27, 1999.

who ever wrote the message with phhukcarl emailo address sounds like Chris Barnett, the loser. If you still can't handle the loss of you job in the radio business, try going to LTA. I'm sure they'll accept your worthless life.

-- Chriss Barnett is a dickhead (stupidass@malafukshun.co.uk), May 27, 1999.

That malafunkshun show was worthless...I rather listen to Andersen than his malafunkshun mouth. He made the dumbest commercials...that guy needs a life. If you are reading this please go get your ass some shoes you worthless piece of shit

-- Commercials (malafunkshun@a$$hole.com), May 27, 1999.

Joe Ada get a gripe of reality and pay the $85,000 you owe Carl for filing a toothless case of election fraud at the Superior Court of Guam. If you pay Carl the full amount today, he would drop the appeal to define with the Supreme Court and go on with the rerun election you so desperately desire. Yes Joe Ada get some more fund raisers and pay for your debts .... life is not free and you won't shine in 1999.

-- (payup@free.rider), May 28, 1999.

The people of Guam wants a recall of Governor Carl the worst we evere elected. We the people were fooled again and voted for him. Now we need to get rid of this worthless peace of manure. Carl says it does not bother him, then he runs and prays with Gerri that the people will not recall him.
