Researching Relevant Professional Development, Task #2Seeking out useful information By Carol A. Thesing
The readings I have chose are as follows:
1. An Artists Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron, 1992. 2. The Artist's Way Morning Pages Journal: A Companion Volume to the Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, 1998. 3. Spontaneous Healing by Andrew Weil, MD, 1995. 4. Fast Company, 1999.
In many of my books that are exceptional, I will highlight and tab directly in the book. For loaned books and magazines, I journal information. An Artists Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity has a supplementary journal. I really like this format because it is designed to get the most from the book and sparks thoughts to self-learning.
My goals for learning involve a better understanding of how and why we choose the things we do to learn. What is the intrinsic knowledge we all possess and how do we tap into it. I believe knowing oneself on a spiritual level is a basic key to unlocking the information I seek.

Carol, In response to the ITV assignment of reading a chosen chapter in the Complimentary Research Methods book, I wrote this: (I think I did a "reply" on the email, but I get confused sometimes about what I've said where, so in case you didn't see this:)I'm so glad you chose that chapter. It's one of my favorites! I just read a book last night that is related. I LOVED IT!
The Kind of Schools We Need : Personal Essays by Elliot W. Eisner, Lois Bridges Bird
Carol, regarding the books and readings you've chosen for professional development, I'm appreciative of learning what you've found useful. These seem to really appropriately address what your research questions are at this point. AND I'm involved with some folks here in Duluth working in a lab school which combines (or atttepts to) creative arts, technology, and the "traditional" curriculum. I think I see technology and the "traditional" 3Rs pushing out the arts, but I need to learn more before I make too much noise. So thank you! I'm on my way to read!
