Film look question with video

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Editing DV Films : One Thread

I'm using a sony digital 8. and love the footage I can capture with it. I also have a 400 mz pII with 256 meg of ram win 98 etc..I'm using adobe premiere 5.1 with a Radius capture card. Question: How can I make my video look like film, or look like the movies I see on TV? I'm new to this so please go easy on me. I have heard of After effects plug in i.e. cinemotion, or Filmfx2 for Premiere. I would like to just experiment right now and can't see the cash layout for these right now. Any suggestions?

Joe, You can download demos of cinelook and cinemotion from DigiEffects. www.digieffects.com They also have a ton of other plug-ins to try. I believe the final output will have DEMO onscreen, but at least it helps give you an idea of what to expect. Take care and good luck!

get film fx 2. i haven't used the other one. but i know film fx renders faster and it has many-many presets. it has about 23- 16mm presets, about 30- 35mm presets, 3- 8mm presets, and some other neet presets also. you can download a demo from www.mvp-soft.com. good luck

I don't know if the digital 8 can do this but on most DV camara's you can stop down teh frame rate of the shutter speed to 25 Frames a sec. This also gives a very filmy look to DV . And it costs nothing.
