With world divisions taking place as in economics and trade along with our country USA being a world power has this brought forth a "new" church system. Was Cardinal Spellman the American Pope?

No, that was a "nickname" of sorts used for him, some people called him that because he lead the Catholic Church in America. You will find his life story in a book called "The Cardinal Spellman Story" He was a very great and important Cardinal.

bro. rich...i succinctly recall, i believe in about 1965 or 1966, while discussing the implementations of vatican 2 on the "irv kupcinent show" eminating from chicago, illinois, a representative of Cardinal Spellman stated "in order to achieve these changes, we are prepared to write off a generation." thirty plus years after the fact, even Pope John Paul ll has acknowledged the divisions caused by this and the departure of clergy from that traditions and practices of the church that "ad tuandem fidem" was issued. even his encyclical "veritatis splendo" he discusses the ideas taught in our seminaries which he deems inappropriate for catholic doctine. yes, cardinal spellman was a great leader and moralist for the church. his television programs were watched by millions. he was an admired church leader but the scism caused by the ideas promulgated by those of his thinking revererate today. as a story in the newspaper today indicated the necessity of the "reformed jew" to return to the traditions of their religion since their break in 1885, it is the thinking of many other than myself that we must do the same but not wait a hundred years.

Was Spleelman the one who had the arrogance to deliver continously a Million Dollars in cash to the Pope whenever visiting? OF course it was reveived with open hands.

Bishop Sheen whom listened to as a child was a great thinker and saw the future.
