accessibility for people with disabilitiesgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Ethical Consumerism - UK : One Thread |
I had just been testing some sites with the excellent accessibilty checker athttp://www.cast.org/bobby/
When I visited the ethical consumer site.
The ethical consumer site itself isn't very accessable. Though the simple W3C guidlines show that a bit of thought would not mean much changes. Not using the alt tag to show the file name and size of the image but actually use it to give the meaning for instance.
Has this been covered in ethical consumer? It would be interesting to see how many large companies provide 'bobby approved' sites.
Is it an important issue? I have no visual disability myself, but I have been spending a bit of time making sure the sites I design are accessable. It's not too much extra bother, but is it worth any bother at all? Anyone with accessability problems like to comment (assuming they can get to this bit in the first place!)
