The Century lens is around $800.00. Sounds great if you can afford it. I just bought a 16:9 lens from a guy who acquired several from a dealer in Japan. It's an off-brand model lens but the glass is supposed to be really nice and I only paid $325.00. Write me if you're interested in hearing about my results.John Brune http://www.geocities.com/~steadicamjr

I just shot my latest short on DV with an animorphic lens. The results are breathtaking! being a photographer by trade I was able to capture cinematic style shots. The problem is that you need to somehow attach the big bulky lens to a camera that is almost half the weight. and then trying to squeeze it into the correct aspect in post has it's tricks. Personally though, my next film I'm just going to shoot with a wide angle lens and chop the top and bottom. It might not look as good to the trained eye, but if it's just going to remain on tape with no blow up... it's the best way to go imho.

I've bought recently an anamorphic lens from Optex - http://www.optexint.com/digivid/anamorph.htm - and I'm fully satisfied. That's much better then the electronic squeeze, that's a true wide image. I have a Sony VX-1000. Optex sells periodically used lens in excellent condition; that was my case. Look at http://www.optexint.com/used/vidlens.htm
