fur between the toesgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread |
Should the fur between the cat's toes be trimmed? I saw a picture of a Maine Coon in our local paper where this fur was really long(12 to 18 inches) & it seems to me that this would make walking difficult. Thank you for your time.

We show Maine Coons and have seen some of the very best MC cats on two continents but I have never seen a MC with hair between their toes that was 12+" long!! Are you sure this wasn't some kind of a joke?!! Regarding your question about trimming the hair, no, you definitely don't need to do that.....I very much doubt if your MC will get hair longer than an inch or so....and even that will mostly be underneath their foot rather than sticking out between their toes. They get along just fine on this fur. Some MCs hardly have any of this extra hair at all.
