Really lame thread!greenspun.com : LUSENET : Squishy : One Thread |
For those of us not fortunate enough to live in Austin or get out of town for the weekend to see Pamie's show, I figured I'd start a thread for us.did you happen to catch my one-person show?
No.
What did you think? Honest feedback is appreciated, since I'm still working on it for future performances. Also, any support drummed up here may bring in more people for this weekend's shows.
Honestly? I thought "Gee, I wish I could see Pamie's show." I think you should take it on the road. Here's and idea. Why don't you videotape it, and sell it on your site?
Time to put on your critic's cap. What did you like?
I like that part where you say stuff and it's funny!
What didn't you like?
I didn't like that part where I didn't get to see it.
What did you want more or less of?
More Pamie, Less no Pamie.
Are my parents going to be proud of me?
As long as you don't go Tom Green on their ass, they should be fine.

It's Tom Green-esque since it's those sort of topics... but I don't ever go, "Ladies and Gentlemen, my parents!"then they would have killed me.
If they take everything with a sense of humor, I'm gonna be fine. If not, they'll find a way to ground me. I know they will.

Pamie,Please tell me that you do not bring a truckload of farm animals into your parents house before they come home from work.
Tell me that you will not get a naked lady painted on the hood of their car.
Tell me that you will not have a statue of them in the "doggie-style" position in their front lawn.
That's the Tom Green I'm talking about.
Tom Green would bring his parents on the stage and ask his dad if mom gives good oral sex.
Give us a little bit of the show... What do you say about the parents?

Well, if you want to see the most Tom Green-esque (which wasn't far from what you described in the last part there... read here.I think then you'll understand.

Holy crap!! I had forgotten the end of that story! If dad can say that, then the parents better learn to deal with whatever you have to say.
Tell them that you're saving them a fortune in therapy by making it part of the act.

Pamie,Once again, I make the suggestion. Since you taped your one woman show, Why don't you let those of us (your friends and fans) who are not fortunate enough to either live in Austin, or make our way there over the last couple of weekends, purchase a copy?
I would be willing to pay to see it. Would you consider selling it? I'll pay $10 + freight. Let me know.

I'm definitely in for buying a tape, if you're selling. I had a friend in High School that got a budget of a gajillion dollars for his senior project to do a one man show, because he was the "director's pet" in the theatre program, and the director happened to be assistant Superintendant.Regardless though, it was a one man show where he was Frank Capra and just told the story of his life. No doubt it was the hardest thing he ever had to do. So, congrats, Pamie, sounds like, in the words of Saint Billy of Blanks, "you are a conqueror."

Pamie,Is the "Let's see how it turns out" dependant on how funny it is, or the quality of the recording?
Either way, I would love to see it!

I want to see it too - just think Pamie, you could finance your trip to Austin this year on the proceeds of your One Pamie Show tape sale. And think of how funny this will be in about 4 years when you're all rich and famous and you ignore us little people in your Hollywood Hills "bungalow", and then one of us sells it to Real TV or something, and they play the "try to guess who this is" game. Haha, that would be funny! Oh, maybe not. Anyway, I think you should sell us the tapes - it's a hell of a lot cheaper then making us fly out to Texas to see you. You're in demand, grrrly.

I'm with the Captain, let us out of towners have a chance to see the show. Lets face it, the chance of most of us ever being able to make it to Austin or Aspen to see Pamie in person is pretty remote. Even when she visited my town, I didn't know till she wrote about it after the fact. I still haven't forgiven her for that lapse. Not that it has kept me away from Squisy. Anyway, we struggled along right with her leading up to show day, we deserve a chance to see the results. Price is not an object or as they say "If you have to ask what it costs, you're not a true Pamieophile."

By "let me see it first" I do mean the quality of the tape. I have no idea if you can hear me or even see my face. Tapes of live theatre are usually horrible... especially if the camera was behind a loud laugher or talker or something. Sometimes the tape can turn out badly if the cameraman is searching the stage trying to follow the performer. He also said to me that he might put it up on cable access here in Austin, so if you live around these parts you may get to see it after all.

Pamie,If it's good enough for public access, it's good enough for me. I really am not trying to be a whiner, but if your show is aired on public access in Austin, doesn't that leave us (that don't live in Austin) in the same position?
See, if I lived in Austin, I would have seen your show. So now your saying, if you live in Austin you can see my show on TV maybe?
I have a question for all. Is there anyone here on this board that lives in Austin that didn't go see Pamie's show?

I don't really know if it's going to be on access. The guy said that without having seen the tape either... he just liked the show. Like I said, if the tape is good, we may be able to work something out.I'll see what I can do. i promise.

I don't think much Austin public access cable gets piped over to Rhode Island...I was wandering around the College Hill area of Providence (RISD & Brown University campuses) on Saturday with my teenaged daughter who was showing off the hip parts of town to her grownup brother and his girlfriend... at one point we were browsing thru an Anime Crash store and I was looking for your City Hunter video but couldn't find it.
No City Hunter, no Pamie one-person-show... I'm beginning to feel culturally deprived... Hmmm... maybe Comedy Central would be interested in a Pamie Special? Or one of those HBO channels? (But I only get two HBO channels, not five...)

Pamie - I am in for the tape! I hope it turns out well! Then we can all say, "Ah, pamie, I knew her when..."
