Polaroid PDC-3000

Why are the auction sites selling the Polaroid PDC-3000 with 20MB memory (a $2000.00 dollar camera) for as little as $390.00. I'm looking for my first digicam and I don't know if this camera is too hard to use or should I buy it.

To be honest I do not know how they can sell the PDC3000 for so low. It is supposed to be a mid range Professional Camera. However, if you look at the review for it here, you will notice how they say that the pictures come out flat, but that can be edited. Depending on your expertise in a program like Photoshop, this may or may not be a good thing. If cost is a major concern, I would look at the Kodak line. Or perhaps, the Olympus 2000. Good Luck

I just got my very own PDC-3000 with an additional 20 MB CompactFlash card -- for $550. Quite a deal, IMHO. And I _love_ the camera! It does not have a color LCD review screen, but then again I needed it for studio and catalog work. I couldn't be happier. The pictures are amazingly clean, crisp and...well...for the price it's great. Then again, I have Photoshop 5.0 and I import the pictures directly into it -- though for my rather simple needs, no major image editing is required. What I want to know is...

Where can I get some of the accessories (macro lens, 60mm lens [telephoto] equivalent and studio kit) at an equally impressive discount? CDW does have some of what I need.

Again, I really like the camera, and it's a first for me. Not only a first digital camera, but a first camera (I'm not counting the Kodak Instamatic I got for Christmas in 1968. It used 210 film, I b

The way they can sell these so cheap (compared to their original MSR price) is that Polaroid has discontinued the model and has apparently dumped its stock of them. Technology marches on... Although the market is a relatively new one, it is becoming apparent that two year old digital cameras hold their value about as well as two year old computers.

I would like to find the auction site(s) where these are selling for $400. At that price I would buy one myself. (Hey, what the hell - my computer is two years old and I still like it.) I checked Ebay and although there are a bunch of them listed for auction, present and completed, no one seems willing to part with them for less than $500 - $550.

Try ubid.com for auctions; they regularly offer quite a few lots of this camera.
