My yard is partially enclosed by a hideous chain link fence. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for covering the fence, w ithout choking out the plants that sit directly inside it.

Our yard is completely enclosed in chain link, but you can't see it at all. A previous owner first covered the fence with that bamboo matting, and then planted plain old English ivy. The ivy is very thick and will be just about impossible to remove when we get ready to build our garage, but it's a heck of a lot better than chain link.
