Fuji MX700, what's the verdict?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread |
I'm considering getting a FujiMX700, which looks much different from the 600 reviewed here. Any feedback on this one?

I just purchased a MX700 and have only been using it for 2 days. Are there any specific questions that you have? I am by no means a profesional photographer. The camera I had prior to this one is a Kodak disc :). That should be an indication that I was looking for an easy to use camera. This one fills that category. It is light and durable with a metal case. The automatic settings are a blessing for me. The pictures turn out great when using the auto setting, not professional but good for me. Keep in mind that I do not know how to "frame" a subject for optimum picture lighting, background and all of the other factors which contribute to a great picture. The software packaged with it is Adobe 2.0 . The pics can go directly into Adobe. I am new to Adobe so I am not a source of info on the software. I will say that I am looking for other software. Mostly because I can not figure how to save pics in the jpeg format.
I am very happy with the included battery charger and the coupon for a free floppy disc adapter to make transfering the pics even easier.
As I gain more experience with this camera I will be happy to keep all interested informed. If you have any specific questions you may ask them here or email me directly.
I hope this helps,
Carl

I want to add that I looked and used this website extensively to do research. I thought that I wanted a coolpix900/950 or maybe an Olympia 500/600. Then I realized that I was not ready for all of the options and control that comes with those models, along with the additional $150-350. I purchased mine for $375. I have seen then going for ~$300. When I compared the pictures using the Comparormeter, I was happy to see what MX600 did. Now consider the MX700 is the next generation, with 1.5pix, I was happy to give up the "extras", which are beyond my ability at this time, for the savings.Just more thoughts,
Carl
