My three year old Maine Coon seems to be suffering from allergies. He pulls out the hair on his lower back and on his beautiful tail. Although he has been treated for allergies and is currently taking an anti-hystimine, he is still pulling out large clumps of hair. I'm working w/ my vet, using best guess to try and solve this problem.

Has anyone else experienced these symptoms? What are they caused by and have you found a cure that works and relieves this problem?? Or is it possibly caused by something else??

My Maine Coon has allergies and is now on antihistamines and antibiotics to treat the rash....the next step is to try cortisone. The vet I have believes these are seasonal allergies and may progress each year. I am now trying to locate a holistic vet...they are very good with allergies. My horses were treated in the past holistically and the treatment was natural and worked! The only dvm I know who is good is located in Minnesota..
