How to Spend $90,000 on 140 people ?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread |
I need your help !!I'd like to buy members of my company a digital camera or digital video recorder to celebrate a recent project success.
I have a budget of roughly $600.00 per person ($90K) and need a recommendation on the best all around digital camera available within that price range. Any suggestions on leveraging this buying power to improve the quality of the product ??
I know zero about digital cameras, but want to make this a memorable gift for my team. Any suggestions ?

Wow! Does your HR department accept on-line applications?Seriously, though -- I'm pleased with the Canon A50 I just purchased. If you shop well, you could get the camera, the power kit (rechargeable batteries and charger, etc. -- digital cameras eat batteries like crazy), and even a USB CF card reader (to make downloading less of a chore) and stay about within that price range per person.
I'm sure others will have comments about various other cameras. What I like most about the A50 is ease of operation and portability -- it's quite small, but has all the features a beginner could want, and takes great pictures.
Congratulations on your success!

i think the above guy has the right idea. Canon a50 sounds good, and get everyone recharger + nimh batteries, and a usb CF reader.

Just keep in mind that the Canon digital cameras have their own required power system/batteries -- adds in the neighborhood of $80- $100 to overall price. (I just had to consider that as part of the price of the camera when making my decision, because I knew it would be necessary.)

The Canon A50 is a good solid choice for you. To buy 140 units, you definitely have a great deal of negotiation to do to get the best price (I have done that for our corporate purchases). I also agree with the NiMH battery, the cahrger and the external USB type ComapctFlash (CF) reader to accompany each A50 DigiCam. I have been able to get good corporate prices through PC Connection's Corporate account division, Phone No.: 800-800-0014, Ext 3229 ask for David Dodge (he has been my contact person). Good Luck.
