Is Procter & Gamble associated with the church of satan

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Ethical Consumerism - UK : One Thread

I received a copy of e-mail reading. The President of Procter & Gamble appeared on the Sally Jesse Raphael Show on March 1, 1999. He announced that "due to the openness of our society", he was comming out of the closet about his association with the church of Satan. He stated that a large portion of his profits from Procter & Gamble products goes to support this satanic church. If someone has some knowledge if this is true or a hoax please contact me.

Hi,

From the phrasing, I'd suggest that it was a classic hoax!

I'd say it was an obvious hoax - but one worth perpetuating. If we could get the American bible belt to boycott P&G for dubious reasons, their profits would fall regardless. This tack might be worth taking with GM - after all, doesn't it question God's supremacy if companies like Monsanto start mucking around with nature?

I think that information like that is always shocking to a consumer, but the bigger issue with proctor and gamble is their large-scale animal testing. Animal testing in unnecessary and unethical. Any consumer should stop buying Proctor and Gamble products for the simple reason that they contribute to violations of animal rights and unnecessary cruelty rather than a company member's religious preferences and where his income is going.

I have heard of this rumour too, and it was proved, via the Sally Jesse Raphael website, that it is an urban legend, sorry cannot remember the URL for the tv show, I live in the UK and is only shown on Sky........I found this out via a bulletin board I am on which discusses various things. Having a keen interest in P+G for the animal testing issue, I read this to make sure it werent true. that is all Emma MacColl x
