I cannot get still images from the camera to PC using the software that came with it, Picture Navigator. I get a cannot connect error message. Help!

It must be your Com Port setting, I think.

Make sure your camera is in DSC mode, download and install the TWAIN driver from the JVC site, and then download and install the 2000/XP update for "Picture Navigator" from the JVC site. Both can be found on this page: http://www.jvc.com/custrel/index.jsp

I know this question is 5 years old, but I just got the damned thing to work myself :)
