My 5 year old Maine Coon has eye problems. The first vet treated him for conjunctivitus which did nothing at all really to help. That plus neither of the other 2 cats in the household contracted what is a very contagious condition. Today I took him to another vet who wonders if his bottom eye lids turn in and the hairs are irritating his eyes. He wonders if that is something to which maine coons are predisposed.

I think the condition your vet is referring to is "entropion" (sp?) I doubt if MC's are predisposed to it - I have heard it reported on the Fanciers' list by breeders of many other breeds. And have not personally heard of any MC's having it. It's not uncommon in dogs, also.
