Answers

The WORST, outside of "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes"? "Ace Ventura, Pet Detective". Matter of fact, most any movie with Jim Carrey in it. "The Nutty Professor" was also bad, bad, bad. "Toy Story", the only horrible movie Robin Williams was ever in was also nauseating. There may be worse out there, such as "Dumb and Dumber", but I've been fortunate enough NOT to have seen them.

Best Movies: "Dead Poet's Society", "Enemy Mine", "Powder", "The Postman", "Field of Dreams", "The Mighty", "Rocky Horror Picture Show", "The Princess Bride", ....well, I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but those are the ones that come immediately to mind.

don't know about the worst, pick any hollywood crap shite.. your entry said that movies usually lack the single artistic point of focus and actually most of them do, but there are real art movies which imitate books... any movie by a. tarkovsky(russian) is a treat by itself bergmann's movie on death (don't know the title) the knife, by roman polanski, and some of his other older stuff i can't really think of any other titles but i find that french/russian cinema is the most explorative and original in their search for our cosmic reality. there are very few american movies (none which i know of currently) which actively try to potray an artistic dilemma/question, most are just stories which are very active in a physical manner. i saw american beauty by the way, let's see an 16 year old looking girl nearly gets fucked by a 40 year old guy, yeah let's give this movie an oscar. it was interesting though.

I'll leave out the stinkers, and go for the favorites. Favorites break down into fairly recent ones and "classics."

Classics: Casablanca (I bought a copy); Gone with the Wind; Dr. Strangelove; Psycho; Z; Godfather I & II

Recent: The English Patient (own copy); Quiz Show (own copy); Damage; Red, White, and Blue trilogy; Nellie & M. Arnaud; American History X

List is in no way comprehensive, and it was what I could think of off the top of my head.
