1st Lens for Deardorff 8X10 View

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

I just bought a Deardorff 8X10 View camera in decent shape. While it may only be used infrequently, I need a lens to compliment the body to bring back some nostalgic memories. I prefer some fine performing lens made in the 1960-1970's to reflect the contemporary period of this camera in 270-420mm focal length. Goerz red dot Artars? Kodak Ektars? Whatever suggestion is appreciated.

If you get a Dagor or Symmar, they can be used for differing focal lengths by removing front/rear elements. Three for the price of one.

I have both a 10" WF Ektar and a 14" Commercial Ektar for my Deardorff. Love them both.

For m Deardorff:

I have a 12-inch Wollensak Velostigmat Series III, which I use about 80% of the time. I also have a 450mm Red Dot Artar and a 6.25-inch Wollensak Velostigmat Series II. These are all nice lenses representative of the period.
