Just bought Nikon Coolscan III. It scans slides perfectly, but the APS scans are horrible - they are "grainy", or perhaps better described as "snowy" (like a TV picture), since what is happening is that the scans are a checkerboard of different shades, even on solid color areas. The pre-scan actually looks better! The quality of the photographs are excellent. I've tried the default, and fiddles with various paramenters without results. One curious thing, which mau or may not be related: the prescans and thumbnails come out upside-down and backwards, and have to be rotated and flipped. Thanks for any help.
