I'm trying to install a SCM Microsystems PCMCIA card reader into my desktop system running Windows 95. It has an ISA adapter card and ribbon cables that allow it to talk to the motherboard after configuration. Windows 95 loads what appears to be the right drivers, but I still can't get to the images on the compactflash cards. I even loaded two additional files into CONFIG.SYS like the Microsoft help pages suggested, but still no use. I think I may need yet one or two more files, because somewhere I read that conventional PCMCIA drivers don't recognize compactflash memory and thus, need yet one more file or driver. Is this correct or am I chasing windmills? If I do need another file, where can I find it? None of the compactflash vendors seem to have any showing on their web sites. This seems really strange, becuase I'm certain hundreds of others have not had this kind of problem or I would've read about it somewhere on the net.

If Windows is not identifying your pcmcia card as another drive, I would check to see if the ISA card is in all the way, or that the ribbon cable is plugged in properly. If those are ok, then I would check to see if there is an updated driver for the ISA card. Also, does your card take up an interrupt request (IRQ). If so, do you have any free.(This is one reason why just because it works on someoneelses PC it may not work as easily on yours)
