Does anyone have experience using the Sony 900 DV Walkman deck as a location sound recorder? We're planning on using one in Jan to record sound (instead of a DAT) for a DV feature and would appreciate any experience, tips, etc. Thanks!

On the feature I just shot, we used the camera (XL-1) to record sound. Obviously, that won't be as easy with other cameras, but to have everything on one tape (and already in sync) is quite valuable. It's a bit of a pain to have wires going to the camera, too, but I'd say it's worth doing. If your camera doesn't have variable sound inputs, you'll just have to get a consistant level from your sound mixer.
