Throughout my life I have been keeping and loving strays as well as well Siamese breed.I toilet train my cat through confining them in a very hygienic and well-kept room for a certain period with two separate litter boxes of the same colour for easy identification by the cat.And this method works. Some cats need more confinement than others. Before you try this, pls ensure that the room is well-ventilated,uncluttered,containing only the cat food, the two litter boxes, and fresh drinking water. Most of all, shower your cat with lots of love.Show that you really care.Good luck.

Everytime my Morris goes into the litter, I find it also on the floor. I will just clean it up, because everytime he goes in he just digs and digs and digs and it becomes a mountain. He also covers up my other 2 cats litter, so again he digs and digs and thats how my litter goes onto the floor.

I have a slightly different problem with the litter box. My 7 mo. old MC darling, Shadow, enjoys sitting outisde the litter box and scooping up the litter in his big paws and letting it trickle over the side of the box into little mounds on the floor. He is totally focused on this and seems to enjoy watching the sand fall over the edge. He also likes to scoup up his crunchies so they fall over the side of the dish and he can chases them around the floor and plays crunchie hockie. I buy him toys but he has more fun with his dry Science Diet. He also likes to "slap his water" and watch it move around in the bowl. He makes me laugh every day. What a monkey! He's my baby and I love him dearly. No, I don't have a solution to your problem and I don't even have one for my own. Maybe it's a "kid thing" and they'll outgrow it. I'm not crazy about having to vacuum around the litter box every day but I do enjoy watching his total concentration when he scoups out the litter. He is very deliberate in doing this and seems to find it fascinating.
I haven't taken any steps to stop this behavior yet, but if it continues, I'll have to do something. He really likes using his paws to touch things. He wakes me in the morning by putting his paws on my face and licking my hair (at 2:30am - 3:00am).
Anyone else with a Maine Coon who has strange behavior?

My maine coon has no cat litter problems but does have her share of bizarre behaviors. She has a morning ritual to which she adheres religiously. At three AM she wakes me up by licking my or my husbands hair or by sitting on one of our heads. When my husband wakes up and takes a shower she goes into the bathroom, waits until he comes out and about to dry off and then viciously attacks his ankles. She wraps her front paws around one leg and bites and licks. After she's finished chewing on him she knocks over the trashcan and removes a Q-tip from the trash, which she plays with for two minutes before trotting off with it and hiding it somewhere else in the house, forcing me to seach for it when I get up. She's a ridiculous cat!

My Maine coone also goes into the garbage and pulls out a Q-Tip too. He does this all the time and when I ask him what he's doing, he looks at me and runs.
