I would add to Steve's welcome by saying that it is important to remember that historically, we need to round out the Government's reporting of mechanical and systems Y2K events and failures with the "human" or sociological aspect of the Y2K story. If we are to truly learn and grow from this wonderful opportunity, we must be sure to be balanced in our view and anlysis of what happened in this interesting time. Your participation and observations are key to our effort and will be an important aspect of Y2K history. Thank you!

I'd like to acknowledge the valuable community service offered by those supporting this effort to share information and mitigate risks. The Center for Y2K and Society (www.y2kcenter.org) is focusing on the societal impact of Y2K on the environment and public safety, healthcare, and poor and vulnerable populations. We will be looking for illustrative stories of the "human" impact of Y2K that are verifiable and worth sharing with the media. The Center will be identifying patterns that can help shape policy and funding recommendations, mitigate risks, and keep communications open. Please use the GICC to share your input and visit our the Center's website if you wish to leverage your efforts with non-profits and foundations as well. I'd like to say a big thank-you to those of you out there who have tried to tell the truth about Y2K. In particular, the people at TB2000. The articles/commentaries posted on their web site have been most informative. However, my biggest thank-you must go to Gary North. His 'Links and Forums' site has been excellent and his comments very perceptive and balanced. Finally, people like Sanger, Yourdon, the person at Infomagic and others deserve a lot of credit for their courageous stand on Y2K. I think time will prove them to be prophets of our time. Glad the GICC Forum is ready for whatever the rollover and beyond brings, and that Phil Greenspun at MIT is moving us all to "more robust servers..." JIT.

I'm quite sure the Coalition 2000 organizations, and other Y2K activist/researchers will appreciate contributing "hard" news... as it happens.
