An addition to my previous post: I'm using 35mm film and a 50mm enlarger lens. Print size varies between 14x21cm and 24x36cm.

This may only be marginally helpful, but I recall having read, either here (lusenet) or on photo.net, someone having had good results with an adjustable negative carrier (something like inserts to lift up corners and so on). At any rate, I'm sure someone here can provide the details or at least point you in the right direction.
