I recently returned to darkroom work. I have an old (we're talking approx. 30 years here) set of polycontrast filters. They were stored reasonably well and appear to be in decent shape. Will these work with polymax paper, or have the filters changed?

The old filters will work, but I like the newer ones better. The Polymax set has more filters and you can fine tune the contrast much better.
