I work for a small, non-profit organization, the staff of which is almost entirely women (50 women to 5 men). Sometimes I wish there were more men here. Our office environment is really loose, and for the most part it's not a bad place to work. However, it is non-profit and it's a good thing I believe in our philosophy, because I'm not going to make millions working here. I'll be leaving next fall to go back into teaching and I will miss my little office and some of the people.

being retired, nearing 80 and in somewhat bad health my ,main endeavor is survival with a decent quality of life........ so i fit visits with my family in between visits to the clinic and at home i read books, one newspaper and surf the web. all this seems to keep my think tank flexible.so maybe the main effort in my "job" is to be curteous and resonsive to people.

9 downsizings in 8 years, random firings, stock has dived 50% in the past year, shiny shoes spin doctors get promoted. This isn't odd, lots of companies are crappier to work for. The odd thing is I still like my job. (Maybe it's because the work is interesting, I have lots of freedom, they pay well, and the location is perfect for me.)
