The Simpsons is one of my favorite shows of all time. However, my friends and I have been less than impressed by this season's episodes.Just last night I caught a good rerun--the one where they go to the Annual Springfield Chili Festival. Even though I know it by heart, it still made me laugh out loud.
What are some of your favorite Simpson episodes?
"When I kick you that means go faster!"--Homer to Tortoise

how about the one where Marge and Flanders star in the musical version of Street Car Named Desire? My favorite part is when the pretentious director pulls out the review of his play and says "I think that the review speaks for itself: Play enjoyed by all".

Most of the Conan O'Brian produced episodes stand out in my mind. Some specific examples are Krusty Gets Cancelled, the one where Homer goes on the Duff Beer tour, and the one where Homer becomes the union boss.
Non-CO'B episodes include the one with Jackie Mason as Krusty's father and the one with Lisa's substitute teacher.
Just a few off the top of my head, anyway.

I love everything Ralph Wiggum has ever done."And for no good reason here's Apu" had me screaming just like the first time I ever saw Cartman sing, "I love to sing-ah! About the moon-ah and the June-ah and the spring-ah!"
I like the Lisa stories even though they depress Eric because he thinks that's what my childhood was like. The one where Lisa is competing with the new girl about the diorama hits a bit too close to home, actually.

I really, REALLY liked the Streetcar Named Desire one, which as Eric pointed out, is brilliant. Jon Lovitz is my hero. My favorite bit was Apu singing: "What's a paperboy... to... doooooooo?"I lived in Germany when Simpsons first came on the air, but my family and I had been big fans of the Tracy Ullman shorts and we'd seen a few of them at the movies. We used to have my grandmother tape episodes and send them to us -- I watched them over and over. These were all from the first season, like "Bart the General" and the one with Bleedin' Gums Murphy.
All the Phil Hartman ones were great, like the one where Troy McClure marries Marge's sister. The Dr. Zeus song was da bomb.

There was one particular line from the pool episode (Sorry, I don't know any of the proper names) that has worked its way into my daily language.
"Let us celebrate this occasion with the adding of chocolate to milk."
That, and their takeoff of The Raven.
"Quoth the Raven: Eat my shorts."
"BART!"

"children! maybe Lisa's right about the importance of civil rights, and maybe Adil is right about the machinery of capitalism being oiled with the blood of the workers."and I too love ralph wiggum.

Great minds think alike it seems... for I too LOVE Ralph Wiggums.
Me fail English? That's UnPossible!
My all time favorite episode is where they all to to Duffland and Lisa drinks the water on the It's A Small World boatride takeoff.
Duff Beer for me. Then Lisa comes out in a psychadelic daze and shouts
Duff Beer for you
Ypu have a Duff
And I'll have one too!
I AM THE LIZARD QUEEN
The old school Simpsons kick ass!sabs

Just a few of my favorite Simpson quotes..."Pray for Mojo."--Homer's helper monkey returning to his training center.
"That's what you get when you don't hail to the chimp!"--Homer while viewing Hail to the Chimp.
"And that's when the C.H.U.D.'s came after me."--Homer discussing why he doesn't like New York.
"It tastes like---burning!"--Ralph Wiggins after eating poisonous berries.
"So I says to Mabel, I says, Mabel..."--Bart to Lisa in the episode The Mysterious Voyage of Homer.
(Milhouse is ambused by a blue-haired Shelbyville kid.) Milhouse: Is this the untimely end of Milhouse? Blue-haired Kid: But Milhouse is my name. Milhouse: And I thought I was the only one. Blue-haired Kid: A pain I know all too well. (They embrace.) Milhouse: So this is what it feels like, when doves cry. From the Lemon of Troy episode.
"I know you can read my thoughts, Bart. Just a little reminder: if I find out you cut class, your ass is mine. Yes, you heard me. I think words I would never say."--Principal Skinner in the episode, The Boy Who Knew Too Much.

I liked this year's tomacco episode. Ralphie Wiggam: "Tastes like Grampa!"Scenes that stick out for me:
- The Sherry Bobbins episode where she flies off and gets sucked into the intake of the jet plane.
- The episode where Fidel Castro asks Burns to look at the trillion dollar bill, and Burns replies, "Look with eyes! Not with your hands!"
- The episode where Homer uncovers the Mafia substituting rat milk for cow milk, by walking into the closet full of rats hooked up to milking machinery.

That should say, "Look with your eyes." (Yeah, I know, I made the Simpsons unfunny...)

Moe: That's it, Homer, you're not welcome in Moe's anymore! I even took your favorite record out of the jukebox!Homer: (sucking in breath) IT'S RAINING MEN?!

So many are so classic, but nobody's mentioned the one when Lisa becomes a vegetarian yet?Oh, and the one where Marge and Homer try to revive their sex life.

the minute it looks like willie's gonna rip his shirt off, i start giggling.ralph (you bit my wookie!) and apu (thank you, come again) are my favorites.
ah, and you'd think that two show a day for two years would get tiring...

Here, Homer speaks a line that's become my own mantra: "All right, brain. You don't like me, and I don't like you. But let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer." Also: Troy McClure's info videos, like "Meat and You: Partners in Freedom." Oh, and all the fake titles:
"Today We Kill, Tomorrow we Die" and "Gladys, the Groovy Mule!"
"The Decapitation of Larry Leadfoot" and "Alice's Adventures Through the Windshield Glass"
"Smoke Yourself Thin" and "Get Confident, Stupid!"

I know that no one else likes this one, but I love it: the one where Mrs. Krabappel and Principal Skinner have an affair.Ralph: Mrs. Krabappel and Principal Skinner were in the closet making babies and I saw one of the babies and then the baby looked at me.
Another good Ralph-ism: "Hi Supernintendo Chalmers!"
I also love the "educational" videos. But! You think they only exist on the Simpsons? Nooo. I have suffered through many a Chemistry video made in the 1960's featuring some guy in a lab coat blwoing stuff up. One also had a man who sang the entire Periodic Table of the Elements.

when the teachers went on strike, and Lisa flipped out and built a perpetual motion machine..."LISA! In this house, we OBEY the laws of thermodynamics!" -- Homer

Okay...I have a question about an episode..I think there was an episode where Homer had to change his name , and he chose "Max Power", and everyone suddenly loved him, and he became popular. Then he went to a Save the Trees type deal, where he was chained to a tree. He ran around the tree with the chain attached, and it chopped the tree down, and caused a bunch of other trees to fall down.
Or was I dreaming this?
I like the episode at the end where Homer and Marge are sitting in bed, and he sings:
"you came and you brought me a turkey.. on my vacation from work-y..."

Tiffi, You're correct. That really was an episode. Remember, a new television show came on which featured a character named Homer Simpson. In the pilot the character was a dashing hero. However, for the series they changed him into a bumbling idiot. As a result, Homer caught a lot of flack and decided to change his name. He does end up with some rich people who go to a Save the Redwoods campaign. Instead of getting his eyes swabbed with pepper spray, Homer runs about the tree and cuts it in half (with the chain) knocking down all the trees in the forest.Since I'm here, my favorite episodes are: You Only Move Twice, where the Simpsons leave Springfield when Homer gets a job with Hank Scorpio at the Globex Corporation, and Lisa the Vegetarian, where Lisa obviously, becomes a vegetarian.
My favorite line from Lisa the Vegetarian:
"Don't kid yourself, Jimmy. If a cow ever got the change, he'd eat you and everyone you care about." Troy McClure, from the film, Meat and You--Partners in Freedom.

Oops, the correct quote from Lisa the Vegetarian is:"Don't kid yourself, Jimmy. If a cow ever got the CHANCE, he'd eat you and everyone you care about."
Sigh.

My favorite episode is the one where Lisa thinks she's stupid because she's a Simpson. "Mama's watching her stories!"
-- Anonymous, January 30, 2000
My favourite would have to be the X-Files crossover.
"The evening began at the gentlemen's club, where we were discussing Wittgenstein over a game of backgammon."
"Mr Simpson, it's a felony to lie to the FBI."
"We were sitting in Barney's car eating packets of mustard, ya happy?"
"What do you want on your hot dog, Mr Nimoy?"
"Surprise me!"
"Geez, who'da thought a whale could be so heavy?"
"Woo-WOO-woo!"
