Who are the Experts?

As I consider who I will put on my list of experts, I looked for nutrition experts as well as innovative teacher experts.

BARB DALY

Barb is a first grade teacher. She has been teaching 15 years. I have had the opportunity to work with Barb in her classroom. She is extemely talented. She uses new ideas and technology in the classroom. The students are excited as they work on their projects. She is innovative enough that she take a project and teaches several subject from it.

MARIE HENRIKSEN

Marie is a former Extension Educator. She had been in Extension for 35 years. Her specialization was Food, Nutrtion, and Health. She is truly an expert on nutrition. I had an opportunity to work with Marie in the same county. I have learned a lot from her. (Knowledge and teaching methods) I was always impressed with Marie's teaching. She comes up with clever and new ideas. Students think she is fun and sometimes they don't realize they are learning.

MARY DARLING

Mary Darling is the State Specialist in Food, Nutrition,and Health. I consider Mary an expert. I have worked with her on the new Senior Curriculum and found that she is caring and works very effectively with people. She looks for new teaching methods and enjoys creativity and cooperation in the classroom. She has all the latest information on nutrition and research.

Penny Sorensen

Penny is a computer Programmer. She has computer skills that are excellent. She seems to have a natural ability and understands the way of computers. She not only knows how to operate the computer but also understands the maintenance and workings of a computer.

Karen Richmond

Karen is a kindergarten teacher. I have worked in Karen's classroom. I admire Karen's teaching techniques. I feel she uses transformative learning and reflective thinking in the classroom. Student's respect and grow during the year they are with Mrs. Richmond. Due to the challenges in this classroom, the students are motivated to find the answers.

William Schaffer

Bill is an Extension Food Technologist at the University of Minnesota. I had the opportunity of working with Bill on the Minnesota Food Safety Committee. Bill knows the latest technology and research in food and nutrition. I think it is important to have a resource like this.
