What a day.

Y'all remember the John Lennon phrase, "Life happens when you're making other plans?"

Well, without revealing TOO much detail, three days after the "Y2k Rollover" was my "rug-rat's" first day at a NEW school.

Not just any school, mind you. A public school, but also a CHARTER school. A fairly new animal in America. This particular one is a pretty good place in my estimation, because its major focus is on academics and also morals.

We actually enrolled said "rug-rat" in this school at the beginning of the 1999 school year, but the school was unable to open on time because of an alleged "permit" problem with the local zoning board.

At any rate--some members of said local planning board are now trying to delay approval to begin construction of a brand new PERMANENT school (currently, the kids are attending school in "trailers" located on the property of a church) and we parents have been asked to mobilize.

'Know what I learned today?

The value of petitions, as in--the value of people actually signing one. I'm learning more about them, because I was clued in today by a political "insider."

I'll share more about that if you're interested.

In the meantime, I'm still here, and getting closer to posting Chapter Four.
