Possible Censorship Rulesgreenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread |
Now that we have a new forum, perhaps we do need some guide lines that can be used to decide who can and who can't post here.I would like to suggest the following rules, but please feel free to add to them as you wish:
1. That anyone causing repeated spamming or DOS be banned imediately and without warning.
2. That the general principle be This forum is a successor to the Greenspun TimeBombY2K forum, and is intended for people who want to discuss the aftermath of Y2K, and/or the impact of technology on society. Anyone can lurk/browse the messages on this forum with complete anonymity; ...(snip) .... Obscene, pornographic, racist, and other highly offensive messages will be encouraged at the discretion of the sysop(s), and repeat offenders will be blocked from further posting unless they hold the same views as the administrator."
3. That anyone who puts forward logical, reasoned argument be forbidden from posting anything without prior approval from the administrator.
4. That anyone who posts outlandish claims with absolutely no evidence or personal experience be held up as good example of what a post should contain.
5. That anyone who posts any personal opinion on any other forum be banned from further posts on this one.

Ever lurk on the other Lusenet forums? I have, because of other interests. Lo and Behold, L.L. from Hell, never visited their abode.Interesting, yes?
-- Interested (looking@history.com), March 03, 2000.
Interested...I did look at other LUSENET forums from time to time. Infact,..I was interested in exactly what was "Monster Rancher"..the next most used forum. Reading through there, I caught on quickly that its a video game, with it's own monsters, AND neater Monsters that can be "found" on other Sony CD products.Amazing marketing concept from Sony...btw.
These kids are rushing out to buy Opera Classics on CD so they can fetch the "Golum" off of it, the one with the high kill rate. (or..something to that effect) That forums popularity comes from telling what Monsters can be found on what tracks of what CD's.
-- kritter (kritter@adelphia.net), March 03, 2000.
Yes, Monster Rancher is a game, a pretty good one. There is even a cartoon about it - used to show up on SciFi channel every now and then. (WHY couldn't they name that the SF channel? Every SF fan in the world HATES that blasted kindergarden level name!) One of the better things about it is that you can combine monsters to produce new, deviant monsters that may be more or less powerful than the original pair. Sort of monster genetics. The concept of marketing game pieces in educational software and music is a good one and I hope it catches on.
Not to my taste, BTW, I prefer such strategy games as Age of Empires for the most part.
There is a lot of interesting stuff on greenspun.com, several books, slides used during ArsDigitas infamous 'boot camps' for web administrators (according to those slides, I've already done most everything they teach), thousands of images on photo.net (includes some nudes, if that is what you like) and, of course, a bunch of web forums.
-- Paul Davis (davisp1953@yahoo.com), March 04, 2000.
I like 'em all. Here's one I might add: Anyone *sigh* sighing audibly and reeking of one too many lattes be given the old jboot right up the old sacred spaces, if ya no whudda mean?

Ma, Ma stop! Youre killin me! Just Too damn funny-ROTFLMAO
-- Ra (tion@l.1), March 04, 2000.
#6 Shouldn't we be able to censor, or kick off people we don't like?? Just kidding! My inner child loves all the graphics, music, dancing candles, fireworks. And wasn't Flint the exploding chicken? I loved that!
I would ask that graphics be mandatory, except I haven't a clue how to do them.
-- gilda (jess@listbot.com), March 04, 2000.
DANG IT!!! Are you all happy now??? You made me laugh so hard that I snorted coffee up and out my nose! Yuck! Oh, just LOOK at this keyboard!I gotta go find some tissues and screen cleaner...
Oh, for crying out loud, look at my shirt! Yuck!
I just hope you're satisfied.
-- Arewyn (artemis31@msn.com), March 04, 2000.
Ma Kettle, LOL, you just don't know how tired I got of those *sighs*.
-- gilda (jess@listbot.com), March 04, 2000.
As someone who was censored for a very long time, I have a newfound appreciation for all views. From my perspective, I don't think anything should be censored - unless it is visual pornography. The stupid, the racist and the homophobic should be allowed to post their swill. It is only when the unconscionable thought is hung out for a proper airing, does knowledge, temperance and perspective succeed. The folks over on the new Yourdon forum (northkorea.com) should be made to feel that this is their place too even the ones who support the censoring Cult of Doom. How else can you prove superiority, but through action?
-- Y2K Pro (y2kpro1@hotmail.com), March 04, 2000.
Exactly PRO. I think everyone should be welcome, especially from that forum. I'm very anti the exclusionary tactics of banning certain people. But having said that, I personally have no urge to visit the new EZ forum; nott even a latte would tempt me.
