Any Plans for Substantive (News) Posts on This Board?greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread |
Just wondering. Not so interested in the psycho-analysis of Y2K. Would prefer to stick with news stories. Is it fair to say there won't be be repeat threads on refinery shutdowns, emergency landings, dramatic sewage spills, pipeline ruptures, etc. here?

There are no "plans" on anything SH. You're very welcomed to post your news links. All I did is try to replicate the old TB2K. Uncensored.

After just several days without reading your posts, from the non- voluntary switch, God am I glad to read your post(s) again. I hope the other will follow

Squirrel, where is "zackly" your home? You usta be in in a tree, then rent came due, and you moved to a "cell relay".

Gads -- the EYESTRAIN i took away from just 10 minutes over at that new board, coupled with having to click and load every single answer, only to find afterwards how lightweight or inconsequential it might be, and then having to CLICK and LOAD how many? 30? 40 ? to find our what the course of the thread is! SHeesh - how manya times do you have to repeat the smae title? I do hope they at least go back to the format they had yesterday, or adopt something similar to this.I have limited time to devote to follwoing a buileltin board, TB20000 has been the board of choise in part becuase it is so efficient and user-freindly. Practically speaking, the news develops at such a dizzying rate these days that I FOR ONE find it imperative to continue in a format like this one, where the post comes up with links and commentary and I can scan down RAPIDLY through the responses to see if anyone has contributed something useful or informative, or whether it's the commoner (and not unwelcome) series of one-liners. I simply can't operate in that environment over there. \
Worse, in one thread, I refered to the new "censored standard as a requirement to act "AS IF I were in Old Git's getaway" and then she took offense and now the thread is CLOSED: since when do you close a thread? less than 24 hours later? And I have no opporunity (well, sort of) to apologize .... to tedious, too timeconsuming, too slow, too inefficient for me. Alas. I would post an "au-revoire" until they get their sh*t to gether, but better to just check back in a few days. I do hope Carl Jenkins, Malcolm Taylor, Homer, etc. will continue to post over here.

Squirrel Hunter - News stories YES! That was my favorite part. Infact, I'm done talking about y2k and it's "aftermath". Bring on the rest of the world!
-- kritter (kritter@adelphia.net), March 03, 2000.
SH,I agree. This format is the best. At least they changed it back to expanded threads tonight over there. It's easier to follow what's going on, not all chopped up. That's one of the reason's that I don't lurk much at the HD forum. THAT format is even worse than ezBoard. I've spent up to 15 min. at HD just trying to find the post that started a thread.
I really hope this can be The Forum again for all reasonable people. Since the LL types seemed to have their beef with the sysops and ED Y. himself, maybe they'll just be regular people over here. I have had no personal interaction with any of those such as LL and Y2KPro, and I'll be the first one to admit that I may be talkin' outta my ass re: that possibility.

Hello,If people want, I would be happy (in a limited capacity) to take the infamous role of Norm or Mild-Mannered reporter, and simply crosspost news stories of interest from different places.
Would that be all right/something you would want? I could only do it every couple of days, but would be happy to if it would help.
Jonathan
-I got called 'terminally polite' today. Still trying to figure out exactly what that means... :) -

Jonathan, you don't need permission to do so, just do it man! No one gave permission to Homer and Carl to post their news ;-)Lets get this board going and back the way it used to be.

"Any Plans for Substantive (News) Posts on This Board?"Lol Squirrel Hunter!
I doubt that these people have plans for anything except to call each other childish names.

Welcome back Hawk, you've been missed :-)

But if you stick around Hawk, you can show us how.
-- Mikey2k (mikey2k@he.wont.eat.it), March 04, 2000.
Yes! Please news stories! Love them! Because of the kindness of others at the old place, I found out the latest news in the early a.m., while rest had to sift through teevee or newspaper at 6 pm. Yes! Please! news!
-- Info (hog@news.com), March 04, 2000.
Yeeessss, News Please Johathan, or anyone else that can post it.Hi Hawk, you old Buzzard, glad to see you here.
Too hell with the Y2K non-event. Let's get on with all the news we don't hear on the main stream jerks.
-- gilda (jess@listbot.com), March 04, 2000.
Hi Hawk. Value your comments, too. Stick around.
-- Normally (Oxsys@aol.com), March 04, 2000.
Jonathan, and all,Please, please, post here with all the news, information and whatever else you can get your hands on as this is the "user friendly" place to be. On the new site, it reminds me of a drunken Flaminco dancer with all the clicking to get from here to there and back again. By the time I've clicked and clicked, and clicked some more, I've forgotten what it was I was going to and why.
And, I for one, don't give a rats ass as to what smart alec, dumb or sometimes rude comment is made. I've got several keys on this keyboard that will move me from something that holds no interest for me. Anyone who wishes to promote their point of view is ok also. I don't do much of this as I am not seeking converts and there isn't much to be said that will alter my set-in-concrete opinions. I like this foremat and intend on staying as long as it's up and going.
Chemtrails? Ya wanna see chemtrails, come to So. Calif. We've got X's, #'s all the time, however I am not worried even though most of my hair has fallen out, vision blurred, kidneys are blocked, paint has pealed off the car and shingles are curling up on the house. Is this a bad sign? :)
-- Richard (Astral-Acres@webtv.net), March 04, 2000.
Please, stick around Hawk. Whats a village without an idiot?
-- Ra (tion@l.1), March 04, 2000.
Squirrel, Jonathan and whoever else, go for it. I scanned the old TB2000 postings for quick reference to articles of interest that I would check out later at their source,ie Drudge,WND,StratFor.com, yahoo or wherever when I had more time. Thanks for the efforts.

To Squirrel Hunter (I am an Ore. coaster), Hawk and the rest. I have lurked for over a year, posted on and off as interested. I luv this format. Lots of times I only read the posts from people I repect their opinions. Same thing with the news, some of you have a real ability to find the good stuff fast & we have it early in the AM. I personally can't go to work without checking in. I guess you would say I am addicted to the board. But, gee, you guys are all so interesting. I must say the flames and crap gets to be a bit much sometimes, but that's people I guess. You can always scroll down.
-- deja (longtimelurker@home.com), March 04, 2000.
Hawk should come back. Where else will he find anyone that he can call an "asshole?"
-- (hmm@hmm.hmm), March 04, 2000.
Hooray! By the looks of things this is at least half the value of the old board, and maybe without the continual spamming and name- calling. Will checek in at Ed's New Board sooner or later too -- but this, for me is the real thing.
